Pego
This walk is perfect for families and as a way to get to know part of the rich heritage of the municipality of Pego, in particular the hermitages of San Miquel, Sant Antoni, San Sebastián and Sant Josep.
The route starts at the hermitage of San Miquel, located on the homonymous street, in Pego's old neighbourhood. It is a construction from the 15th and 16th centuries, and therefore it is one of the oldest buildings in this town.
The next hermitage that you visit is the one dedicated to Sant Antoni. It is located on a small hill in the Sant Antoni area. This hermitage was built during the 16th century.
The third hermitage that you come across during the route is the hermitage of San Sebastián, which is located in the Benumeia area, in a slightly elevated area, surrounded by orange trees and located near the Rupais Ravine. This construction is from the 17th century and was built over the mosque of the old Benumeia farmhouse.
And, to end this route, you get to the last hermitage, dedicated to Sant Josep, which is located in Pla de la Font. It is the only hermitage where weekly Eucharists continue to be celebrated. This building was constructed during the 16th and 17th centuries.
