ENVIRONMENTAL PLAN PREPARATION, TERRITORIAL PLAN FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN THE VALLS DE LA MARINA ALTA
The natural environment of Les Valls de la Marina is an important tourist resource due to its landscape value and support for various tourism activities, like active tourism, nature tourism, birding, and family tourism. However, the recent fires of 2022 have caused a decline in its attractiveness, making its immediate recovery a necessary and prioritized tourism strategy. A strategy for the environment and the territory is proposed with the aim of promoting sustainable and endogenous development within the natural and rural environment.
The objectives include the recovery of the territory through environmental education, ecotourism, and social awareness.
- Designing an intervention strategy for sustainable dynamics associated with the rural and natural milieu that enhances the local economy via sustainable tourism.
- Improvement of the natural heritage and rural environment of Valls de la Marina through rural and ecotourism by proposing and implementing a catalogue of measures and activities.
- The benefits of rural tourism, natural spaces, and rural life in Pego and the Valls will be disseminated to neighbouring villages and regions.
- Social and tourist agents in the Marina Alta and surrounding areas will be made more environmentally aware through ecotourism and tourism promoting the environment affected by the fire.
