This ravine is a dry ravine in the shape of a canyon, where high walls of white stone stand out and reflect the light in an almost magical way. Ιncredible photos can be taken, bringing home unforgettable memories of the adventure. It is necessary to differentiate the ravine known as Barranc de l'Infern (the ravine of Hell) from the so-called Catedral del Senderisme, because they are often mixed up. The ravine is a vertical itinerary full of adrenaline, descents and abseils, and the Catedral del Senderisme takes a different route that borders the ravine, but no more than that.
Although it is, in general, a dry ravine, in some periods of heavy rain it can fill up with water, making the route much more spectacular, although the waters in the Barranc de L'Infern last approximately one week during a few specific moments of the year. Whether dry or with water, the Barranc de L'Infern ravine is emblematic both in the province of Alicante as well as throughout Spain. Getting a chance to see it from both aspects makes the experience much more rewarding.
Location of the Barranc de L'Infern ravine
The access to Barranc de L'Infern can be found in the rural village of La Vall d'Ebo, which is located inland but very close to Dénia. To access the ravine, go towards Pego and then take the CV-712 road until the village.
If the plan is a rural getaway, not very far away one can find Benimaurell and the so-called Catedral del Senderisme, a route with more than 6,800 stone steps that can be walked along in a relaxed fashion, while enjoying the surrounding nature. There are also places to spend the night. (1)
