The cove known as Cala del Moraig has a barrier-like breakwater made of large stone blocks below the parking area. These blocks were placed to withstand the strong storms that often hit this part of the coastline during the winter. Additionally, it has become an excellent refuge for many species that find a place among the rocks to reproduce and protect themselves from predators.

The suggested route starts from the end of the parking lot, right at the beginning of the beach where a large rock enters the sea. From here, one can enter the water and begin a journey that goes parallel to the breakwater towards the arches of the Moraig cave.

The seabed, as mentioned, is rocky and alternates depths ranging from the surface to just over seven metres, where the rock gives way to a white sandy bottom. It's interesting to search for the depth that allows for observation of the abundant fauna, such as schools of white seabream and two-banded seabream, East Atlantic peacock wrasse, or painted combers and the always colourful ornate wrasse, which swirl around when they find food, as well as some of the many sea urchins that cover the rocks. It's not uncommon to catch a glimpse of larger fish like gilt-head bream or sea bass. Due to the frequent presence of fishermen, it is necessary to be careful so as to not to get caught in their fishing lines.

When reaching the southern end of the breakwater, where the rocky blocks disappear and the submerged wall of the Moraig arches begins, there is a change in direction. However, it is not advisable to cross the wall that leads into the cave because it is very shallow, and it is easy to get scratched by the rocks. It is better to return to the starting point along the breakwater at a different depth and continue enjoying this relaxing aquatic journey. (1)
