The Serra de Bèrnia mountain range is located between the settlements of Altea, Benissa, Calp, Callosa d'en Sarrià and Xaló. It is an immense natural wall that rises up separating the two regions called Marina Alta and Marina Baixa. The altitude of its highest peak is 1,129 metres above sea level and, from the summit, you can enjoy magnificent views of the entire Costa Blanca coastline and the deep valleys with their Mediterranean mountains.

The route begins near the hermitage of Pinos, at a curve in the road where there is a PR-CV 436 panel. From this point, continue until the track known as Camí de l'Estret which descends to the ravine called Barranc de l'Estret, amongst country houses and with beautiful views of Bèrnia. After crossing the ravine and going along a path, you get to Casa de Pinos. Later, you arrive at a crossroads where you have to continue towards the spring known as Font del Garroferet. Go up a steep section that leads through a flora micro-reserve. Next, you have to take a path that zigzags up to the mountain pass known locally as Passet, which is a natural passageway between the Marina Alta and Marina Baixa regions. The views from this point are truly wonderful, and you can see the Serra d'Oltà mountain range and the rock known as Penyal d'Ifac to the east, and the Serra Gelada mountain range and Puigcampana to the south. From the mountain pass descend along the sunny side of the mountain, towards Font del Garroferet.

You can also start this trail from Cases de Bèrnia, going towards the spring called Font de Bèrnia through the shady side until you reach El Forat, and then continuing on until the Fort of Bèrnia.
