El Poble Nou de Benitatxell
This route links up the historic village centre and its landscape of vineyards with the spectacular coastline of cliffs located in the Cala Llebeig and Cala del Moraig area. From the top of Puig de la Llorença you can see the entire Marina Alta region, the cliffs and reliefs of the coastal area, the rural landscape of fields of vines and almond trees, and the inland mountains.
This trail connects the Serp route with the Llebeig and Moraig coves and also with the cliffs route and the ancient fishermen's houses located along the waterfronts. The path is 9 kilometres long and is ideal for tourists or simply for people who appreciate beautiful landscapes. The route starts from the village centre and you have to take the path known as Camí de la Serp. Continue ascending towards the Puig de la Llorença overlook. From here, descend through the ravine known as Barranc del Garsibà until you get to the concealed cove called Cala Llebeig, where the trail links up with the cliffs route (SL-CV 50). This route runs through a valley full of bushy vegetation and quite rocky terrain. While walking along the route you can see old bridle paths, agricultural terraces made using the dry stone technique, lime ovens and the remains of an old quarry dating back to medieval times. You can also enjoy some wonderful views and the area's ecosystem of flora and fauna.
