La Segària de Benimeli is a route rich in cultural and historical aspects, during which you can observe clear Iberian and Arab traits.

It is a circular route which begins and ends in the Plaça Major of the village. Go along the street known as Carrer de Fora until you leave the village and then take a paved track until you come across an old house with a corral. Skirt around the house and take the path on the right, thus beginning the ascent, accompanied by the fragrances of rosemary, thyme, chamomile and fennel, among many other plants.

Continue along this path until you get to the Ombries de Segària viewpoint, from where you can enjoy some impressive views of the surrounding villages and mountains.

Return to the path and follow the indications until you reach a paved track that leads you to the Segària viewpoint, from where you can see the marshy area known as Marjal de Pego and most of the nearby coast, the Montgó Natural Park and, looking inland, the village of Orba and the valley known as La Vall de Laguar.

At this point, connect with the PR-CV 415 trail, from which you deviate so as to visit the remains of what was an ancient Iberian settlement. Then, go back towards the viewpoint and take the signposted route that leads you to the south face of the mountain range known as Serra de Segària, which is where you begin the descent. Along the way you come across some old wells, where you need to be careful, as well as the remains of terraced fields constructed by Arabs and what used to be the house of Prince Abd al-Malik al-Muzaffar, which is known as “cadireta del Rei Moro”.

During the final stage of this route you pass through the street known as Carrer de la Mola, where you can see an old millstone, and you then continue straight on until you reach Plaça Major again.
