L'Atzúbia Forna

Llavador de l'Atzúbia

The washing place is one of the most characteristic elements of L’Atzúbia. Although it is not known when exactly it was built, it is clear that it already existed at the beginning of the 20th century.

The construction has a gable roof. The water that feeds it comes from the village fountain, located at the intersection of the streets known as Carrer Principal, Carrer del Pont and Carrer de La Font. Its existence made it easier to wash clothes, which used to be done wherever possible, including in La Marjal, and also created a space for women to meet, work and socialize. Bernat Capó said: "Women have had their equivalent of men's barbershops in public washing places".

The washing place was renovated in 2015 and currently only receives regular visits from the oldest women in the village.
