Historically, it was the building that served as entrance to the village, its construction having begun in 1882. It was originally built to be a school and practically maintained this purpose until the 1990s. However, throughout its more than one hundred years of history it has fulfilled various other functions. For example, in 1939 some classes were used to house local prisoners, and during the 1970s it served as the headquarters of various groups in the municipality.
Nowadays, after having been refurbished in 1994, it houses the Municipal Library, the Municipal Music School and Conservatory, exhibition rooms and some technical offices of the local government.
Just in front of the Casa Municipal de Cultura building, one finds La Glorieta de La Creu, an area of open gardens with a fountain in the centre.
