La Vall d’Alcalà
Between Beniaia and Alcalà, next to the path of Els Benialins, is the ancient abandoned hamlet of Els Benialí where seven families lived in 1600. With the Moorish expulsion, it became deserted, but thanks to the arrival of Christians with the 1611 settlement charter, it was occupied again until the beginning of the 18th century.
A block of three houses is preserved there, which are now cattle pens, with one or two rooms and a courtyard in the centre. The houses are connected by dividing walls, as in La Roca or La Queirola, with similar construction techniques. The external staircase that accesses an upper floor should be highlighted.
The main economic activity of the population was rainfed agriculture, with some orchards in irrigated areas, and livestock farming: they took advantage of the resources of the surrounding mountains.
