Castell de Castells
The ruins of the Pla de Petracos Chapel are located about five kilometres north of Castell de Castells in the direction of Benigembla.
The construction of this chapel began after the decree of expulsion of the Moors in 1609, although it was never completed. Around 1870, the rector of Castell de Castells collected funds to finish it, but these were stolen and so the chapel was abandoned. Nevertheless, it is still worth visiting for its historical and artistic value.
What remains of the building is a small rectangular enclosure constructed with stone walls reinforced by two buttresses on each side. There is no roof. The entrance opened under a semi-circular arch, and above it, a round oculus can still be seen. On the opposite wall, which was probably the apse, there is another open access, suggesting it was used as a pen for livestock.
It is impossible to access the enclosure, as it is completely overgrown with vegetation.
