The church known as L’Església de La Mare de Déu de Les Neus is located in the old part of Calp. It is formed by a set of two temples, the old one and the new one, with parallel longitudinal axes and connected laterally.
The new temple, modern in style, dates from 1973. On the outside, the mosaic on the facade, which refers to the Old and New Testaments, is of great interest. The interior is a large room covered by ceramic vaults supported by beams and the contrast of the white of the walls with the brightness of the stained-glass windows in the ceiling is noteworthy. The altar, which is centred, is decorated with mosaic-style murals. The sculptures of La Mare de Déu de Les Neus and El Crist de La Suor (the Virgin of the Snows and the Christ of the Sweat) are also quite outstanding.
As for the old temple, dating back to the 15th century and built in a Gothic-Mudejar style, it had a single nave. Currently, only a few cross vaults of the original construction remain in the presbytery and the sacristy. The head of the temple forms part of the perimeter of the mediaeval town wall, which is attached to the modern church of La Mare de Déu de Les Neus, as a chapel.
