The Church of Santa Caterina is located in the municipality of Senija. The current church, dating back to the 18th century, was built on top of an ancient Arab mosque, which in turn replaced the mosque of the hamlet. With regards to the exterior, there is a simple and unadorned façade with a triangular pediment that indicates a gable roof covered with tiles. Located on one side, there is a square-shaped tower. The church has a rectangular floor plan in the shape of a Latin cross with two sections of lateral chapels between buttresses. The central nave is covered by a barrel vault with lunettes over transverse arches. The ribbed vault appears in the transept and becomes smaller at the presbytery. Inside, two orders of pilasters can be seen: a composite order for the main nave that includes an entablature running throughout the interior space, and a Tuscan order for the lateral chapels.
It houses an interesting Baroque sculpture of La Mare de Déu dels Desemparats [the Virgin of the Helpless], made of polychrome wood. There are also attractive pieces of goldsmithing, such as a 17th-century custodial and a pyx with the coat of arms of the Bou de Peñarroya family, lords of Senija. The image of La Mare de Déu de La Misericòrdia [the Virgin of Mercy], dating back to the 14th century, comes from the old church.
On the exterior of the church's apse, there is a pointed or ogival tile arch, highly appreciated by the residents of Senija, and known as L’Arc Gòtic (the Gothic Arch).
