This temple was originally erected as a convent in 1604 and later converted into a church, in 1682. However, like most churches, it has undergone various restorations.
The convent was built next to the old hermitage of La Mare de Déu de Loreto (Our Lady of Loreto) and was inaugurated in the presence of King Felip III, the Duke of Lerma, important figures of the high nobility and of the clergy, amongst others.
The architectural complex consists of the church, the cloister and the southern wing of the cloister.
The exterior is austere, with two entrances. The main entrance is located on Carrer de Sant Narcís and the side entrance is on Carrer de Loreto. Both entrances feature slender pointed arches flanked by Doric pilasters. The door on Carrer de Sant Narcís also displays rough stone voussoirs.
Inside, there is a Latin cross floor plan inscribed in a rectangle, with non-communicating chapels and a wide transept with a dome on pendentives. It is covered with a barrel vault with lunettes, and the lateral chapels have ribbed vaults. The height is formed by Doric pilasters, reconstructed after 1939.
In the main altar it is possible to see an altarpiece of La Santíssima Sang (the Holy Blood) and the image of La Mare de Déu dels Dolors (Our Lady of Sorrows).
