La Vall de Gallinera
It is a fountain with two bronze outlets of excellent artistic quality, located at the very door of the church, and the only one in the entire valley that is separate from the municipal washing place, which is installed on the outskirts of the village in the direction of Llombai.
The fountain is composed of a central basin of hexagonal section with a corbel in the centre where the installation date is engraved. On each side of this basin, crowned by a decorative piece of iron, one can see the two bronze outlets. The fountain pours running water into the circular limestone basin that rests on a cylindrical plinth. The water is channelled to the washing place located at the exit of the town in the direction of Llombai.
The fountain shows stonemason’s hammer marks all over the basin, except on the corbel, where the date AÑO 1926 can be seen.
The fountain of Alpatró was not built and channelled until 1906, and the fountain basin was not installed until 1926, so the date carved into the stone was rectified by putting a 2 where there was a 0.
