The stones here speak, because they are a part
of our past and a part of our present.
Orba
Built in 1904, that which stands out here is the stone masonry carried out by Lorenzo Torrens Reig. A native of Orbeta following the artistic trends of the time, he was inspired by the neo-Gothic and neo-Mudejar styles. The date it was built can be seen sculpted into the construction itself.
The building served as a public space for washing clothes. It has two basins located under cover to protect those who came to wash from extreme weather conditions.
The fountain is part of a hydraulic infrastructure which includes the washing place and the primary irrigation channel, amongst other constructions. It is a system which mirrors other fountains in the vicinity, all of them integrating a system of water use that today forms part of the most valued cultural heritage of the area.
