La Casa del Trapig corresponds to a sugar mill constructed in the 16th century, where sugar cane —cultivated in the area— was transformed into molasses, which would later become sugarloaf.
In later years, it was used as an olive press to make oil. In the area, various utensils were found, such as clay containers that stored the sugar cane juice, and three impressive millstones, highlighting the importance of the mill. These large stone millstones were used to extract the juice from the sugar cane and were moved by animals. The size of one of the millstones, measuring over 1.70 metres in diameter, makes it the largest piece found.
La Casa del Trapig in El Verger appears in historical documents starting from 1580, but it is believed to have already existed in the 15th century.
