The current Mercat Municipal d'Abastiments (Municipal Supply Market) is located in the vicinity of the church, in front of its northern façade. Although the present building does not date from the mediaeval period, the convent of Les Agustines Descalces was built on this site in the 17th century. In the garden there was a tower, probably the tower known as Torre d’En Cairat, where the body of Sister Maria Gallard, founder of the community, was laid to rest.
During the Civil War (1936-39), the old convent was destroyed by the municipal council so as to build a covered market in its place. The war prevented the realisation of this project and it was not until 1946 that the current market was inaugurated, built in a style that did not clash with the nearby church.
As the Middle Ages progressed, the Counter-Reformation sparked religious interest that encouraged the creation of convents, such as the 17th-century Convent dels Mínims in the square called Placeta del Convent, outside the town walls. Unfortunately, it was also destroyed during the war (1936) and the convent of Les Agustines Descalces was built on that site in 1946, with several paintings by Soler Blasco that stand out.
