The Archaeological Museum of the city is located in the upper part of the castle, in the extension made to the building called Palau del Governador. This museum shows the development of the city, from its first origins to the 18th century, divided into four areas that correspond to different periods of development:
The Iberian period: Iberian settlement (the Alt de Benimaquia site, etc.) and the beginnings of Romanisation.
Roman times: the city of Dianium and its evolution.
The Muslim era: the city of Daniya and the importance of the Taifa Kingdom of Dénia.
The Christian period: the city from the 13th to the 18th centuries.
All four areas exhibit pieces that constitute the foundations of a museographic proposal linked to the sea and the relationships between cultures. (1)
