The stones here speak, because they are a part
of our past and a part of our present.
Castell de Castells
Castell de Castells has an ethnographic collection that brings together objects of a diverse nature related to traditional ways of life and the rural world of the inland mountains of the Alicante region. The room where it is installed is on the lower floor of an old house that belonged to a prominent local family. What stands out the most are the spaces for storage (mainly of olive oil, which was an essential product that was both cultivated and consumed), the kitchen-dining room as a place where most daily domestic activities were carried out and where leisure time was enjoyed, and the stable with a large-sized manger. Through the production of an audio track that includes part of the oral history of Castell de Castells, an attempt has been made to show the specificity of the space and to put it in contact with the history of the village itself. The ways of life, the daily chores and the difficulties of surviving in this environment during the first half of the 20th century are clearly exposed through the experiences of a local woman. (1)
