The stones here speak, because they are a part
of our past and a part of our present.
Benissa
The southernmost stretch of the Benissa coastline is formed by the bay of Les Bassetes, located on the border between Benissa and Calp. The name comes from the characteristics of its calm and shallow waters. This small and charming bay is formed by a sandy tongue on which the Les Bassetes Boat Club is located.
Here, there is an area that is protected as a flora microreserve, where some species stand out. These include the cat's head helianthemum or setge, a rare and vulnerable rock plant that only inhabits the coasts of the Western Mediterranean, and the thyme plant, a highly aromatic shrub with light purple flowers and orange glands on the margin. It blooms from May to September.
In this bay, one can find access to the Ecological Promenade through the south gate. During the walk, it is possible to enjoy marvellous views of the coast and read various informational panels.
