Located in the middle of the valley formed by the mountain of Pedreguer and La Sella, Els Molinets are two windmills originally built for grinding grain for human consumption.
The two mills have the same characteristics. Both have a circular floor plan and are slightly conical, with stone walls that are more than a metre and a half thick, although one of the two is taller than the other. The date of 1850, found on the lintel of the door of the smaller of the two, can be assumed to be correct as the date of construction.
Inside, the buildings were divided into three floors. The lower floor would have been used to store the grain and to put the flour into sacks. The only access door was located on this floor. The room between the lower and upper floors, with its floor resting on wooden beams, would have been used to store tools and sleep in. Last of all, the upper floor would have been the main working space, with the machinery and millstones.
Over time, however, both the machinery and the interior division of the spaces have been lost.
In 2016, the buildings were rehabilitated so that the interior can be visited if the key is requested in advance at the local police station or from the cultural centre, known as La Casa de La Cultura.
