The Church of Santa Anna is located in the municipality of Ondara. This temple was built in 1789; it is situated between other buildings and has a cornice height similar to that of other houses on the street, which, combined with the absence of a square or public space in front of it, is highly unusual. The floor plan is in the shape of a Latin cross, without a transept, and with an additional section added later, the latter including a kind of communion chapel for separate worship. The main nave is covered with a barrel vault and illuminated by lunettes which are placed over the covered side chapels, which, in turn, have barrel vaults that are perpendicular to the central nave. The ornamental elements follow the classical style, with two orders of pilasters and a continuous entablature where the polychrome decoration is centred. What is to be highlighted are the mural works by local artist Salvador Gil, created between 1953 and 1959; these appear both in the altar of the communion chapel and in the arches of this chapel, as well as in the ornamentation of the main altarpiece. All of them are oil paintings on canvas that are perfectly fitted and adapted to the architectural spaces of the temple. On the façade, the entrance portal stands out, framed between two pilasters supporting a plain entablature with friezes and cornices, above which there is a niche and an oculus. The tower, located on one side, has a square base and three sections. Adjacent to the left side of the bell tower is a newly constructed building intended as the rectory. (1)
