The stones here speak, because they are a part
of our past and a part of our present.
Calp
La Casa del Cocó is a typical rural building of La Marina Alta, which formerly had large compartments for storing home-grown agricultural products, pens for rearing sheep for wool and goats, cellars, barns and an extensive riurau for making raisins. In 1998, it was acquired by the Town Hall of Calp and rehabilitated as faithfully as possible to the original design, to thereby become the Casa del Cocó Ethnological Museum.
This museum has several rooms that represent the various economic activities developed in Calp in the past. On the one hand, there is a room dedicated to winemaking where one can find a press used for treading grapes and other objects related to this activity. Then there is a room dedicated to fishing, which was the main activity carried out in Calp until the 1960s, where it is possible to see various elements that belonged to fishing boats. And, finally, an agricultural room concentrates on the activities related to work in the fields and the transformation of the products obtained from cultivation. (1)
